About Lavon Thaxton

What Makes a Winner? "It must be in the blood," Lavon Thaxton says, referring to the show dogs she has worked with over the years. "Once they get in the spotlight, they know exactly what they're out there to do ---- to win. They know it's their time to shine. It's the sign of a true purebred." Groomed for Success Lavon has been working with show dogs for a number of years. In fact, her giant schnauzer, Stormy, is a retired champion. Although Stormy is no longer with her today after a long and loving life, she still possesses a drive to continue to win for both herself and her clients. Her experience showing dogs ---- she still grooms dogs in her spare time ---- has taught Lavon a lot about taking advantage of the spotlight ---- of seizing the moment and approaching everything she does with a winning attitude. Those who know Lavon well will tell you that creating winning results is in her blood, too. With a strong lineage of her own, you could argue that she was born to be a force in the real estate business. Her grandfather was a builder and custom cabinet maker back in Texas and her mother, father, cousin and sister-in-law are all in real estate or real estate related fields. "It's funny when you think about it, but growing up around all that construction and excitement, I guess a love for homes has stuck with me throughout the years." A Proven Approach Lavon honed her sales skills in many years with AT&T, selling phone systems to companies throughout the country. She ultimately realized that she enjoyed selling homes much more than she enjoyed selling phones. To her, nothing is more rewarding than watching a family realize their home buying or selling dreams. That's what motivates her everyday. Although Lavon is a self-proclaimed "workaholic," she does manage to spend some quality time out on the links with friends, working in her garden, studying local history (she's a Civil War buff) and, of course, hanging out with family.
